Anastacia Returns. Remains Irrelevant And Embarrassing.

Full disclosure. I was never a big fan of Anastacia. I think I was always turned off by her stupid sunglasses and grating voice. But she was unavoidable in the early 2000s and I somehow ended up buying all her albums - even Heavy Rotation, which defined career-ending flop well before the release of MDNA. My favourite was definitely 2004's self-titled effort, which boasts two of the diva's best songs - "Left Outside Alone" and "Sick And Tired". She pretty much became irrelevant after that but is now on the comeback trail, promoting It's A Man's World - a collection of cover versions first performed by men.

Excuse me but didn't Cher do this first way back in 1995? Furthermore, who leaves four years between albums and then return with this shit? It's not like she's 100 and has no other option. Anastacia could still get away with a fun dance-pop album and it would probably sell on nostalgia alone. Oh well. I won't lose any sleep. The first taste of It's A Man's World (that I've heard) is an abysmal cover of Foo Fighters' "Best Of You" (below). It's really bad but words can't describe how terrible the accompanying video is. Why is she acting like my drunk aunt at karaoke? How can she move her mouth with all that botox? Who really gives a shit about this bitch anymore?

Song: 0/10, Video: 0/10

The busty songstress has become disappointing dull and is making it hard to be a fan, especially when she said that she hated music while promoting Heavy Rotation. Of course Pieces Of A Dream The Greatest Hits after a mere three albums and something like 8 hits started off the process.

I see she's cutting costs by releasing an album cover straight from 2001.

i rarely agree with u but this is very very bad

@Me - She did NOT say she hated music, the press made it up and she wrote a statement to clear it up!! She said after a long day at work she'd rather watch a DVD than put on a CD!!!!

Love the song and video though. Don't be so hateful!!!

I agree with the first comment. It was so odd to rush release a Greatest Hits for an artist who was doing so well. It's almost as if Sony decided her career needed to end in 2005. I was surprised by Heavy Rotation's floptastic disaster. But I guess she waited to long. And yes, Cher did this type of covers album 17 years ago. Poor Anastacia :( This video and song is dreadful.

f-uck you haters.. there s thousand bitches in music business, she s still a real singer.

I've never understood why someone would cover a recent song in the same style as the original. Tina Cumstains did it right with her Sex On Fire mix, poor Anastacia sounds like an X Factor contestant.

Truly appalling.

You are just jealous. She is like one of the few real singers remained and if u prefer to listen to pop bitches like Rihanna or Katy Perry you really deserve the Trash name on your blog

Aww why all the hate? Sure, it's not song of the year but Anastacia sings with a lot of passion, but she could sing anything she wants and her voice alone would be enough for me to listen. I do agree that the video is pointless, but at least she looks nice!

I love the fact that you remove the comments you don't like. You probably didnt' even watch the video or listen to the song 'coz you wrote "Best of Me" while it should be clear the song is called "Best of You". If you can just insult some1 who has far more talent than most of those "popstars" of these day well you can keep that for urself.

I haven't deleted any comments...

Thanks for pointing out the typo. Unfortunately I did listen this awful shit several times!

Releasing something so disinterested after 4 years(plus copying Cher`s concept)looks like she`s just one step from judging `X factor`but on the other hands many today`s pop divas wouldn`t touch a cover version-what are they afraid of?-and she`s also covering (mostly recent)rock songs instead of usual soul/evergreen standards.

LEAVE ANASTACIA ALONE!!!!!!!!!!

It's not bad, but not good either.

Speaking of other flops - Mike, where is your sure-to-be-scathing review of Dulta's latest album? I've been visiting this blog every day hoping to see it...

This album brought back those repressed memories of her and Celine covering ACDC. She's been in the biz for long enough yet it feels as though she is still trying to find her voice.
