Rihanna - We Found Love - Video Review

Can Rihanna please go back to being that sunny island babe that stared into space like an empty vessel and did her best to look pretty? Ever since Breezy's Ike Turner moment, Def Jam has been intent on making the 23-year-old edgy and interesting. Their first attempt at transforming RiRi into a dark and damaged diva fell flat when "Rated R" flopped but the sex-addict image circa "Loud" was a success. This time around the-powers-that-be have turned the ultimate label puppet into junkie slut for "We Found Love", delivering Trainspotting - The Musical. All you need is a cameo from Ewen McGregor and this rubbish could be released as a sequel. The concept isn't terrible but they needed someone less manufactured to pull it off. Marina, Neon Hitch or even Robyn could have made this work. Instead, we're left with another "Man Down" ie. a desperate attempt to generate controversy to promote a shit song.

3/10

If it was Beyoncé who made this, you would of called it a masterpiece.

I don't understand the hype either.

It is Manchester born model Agyness Deyn speaking at the beginning. It's not fake! It doesn't even fucking sound like Rihanna.

This video alone has left Stealyonce and her terrible 4lop campaign looking quite rediculous. Whether you like the song and video or not, it is nice to see a record label spending more than $20 on their artist's videos. 4lop has left Stealyonce looking as relevant as Tina Turner!

It's a great video and a great song. Pop Trash Addict you need to get over your insane hatred of RiRi. Many times I think you're just desperately jealous and would have loved to be RiRi...but you're just a little Aussie fag

It's the most exciting video I've seen in ages. I love the video and the song. Kinda over Beyonce at the moment, impatiently waiting for some new Mariah. I wonder if having babies will bring her a new perspective as it did for Madge.

I get Rihanna is trying to tell her story, but many young people won't see that. I wonder if she knows or even cares about what kind of influence she has on kids. Will Rihanna ever try to tell her story in PG? Her songs are alright but all her videos suck. Literally.

I can see why people object to it but I think that the video song combination is artistic genius. Kanye West did a video for his album when he released 'All the Lights' and 'Power' and the video made the songs pop, it was also brilliant. I think Rihanna did a stunning job with the video. I think she should make it clear when asked about it that the message is not glorifying drugs but that she is passed out, sick, crying in the video. That unless you value yourself more than you value your partner, the relationship turns possessive and addicting and that's a dark place to be in. That's a powerful message, one for empowerment. I think she should take that powerful theme and go with it. There's nothing wrong with being very sexual and comfortable with your body-- I resent people trying to say there is. In the video, she isn't hooking up with many guys, she's with her boyfriend...at least from that standpoint, she's only being sexually confident. I honestly think that if young girls take from her that its okay to be proud of how they look, okay to love themselves, okay to want sex, to enjoy that- then that's not a bad message. There's too much demonizing of women for sex which isn't healthy either. I think its fine if RiRi is a sex icon, as long as she an icon for other things as well. This video is a good start.

Rhianna is just jelouse of Chris Brown's comeback. She needs to get over it and leave the man alone. This video sucks and she looks like a slut...

Why do people talk like she actually MADE the video herself? Or anything else, for that matter?

I don't know what's worse: crazed Beyonce fans spinning fairytales to overhype her, or people giving Rihanna credit... for anything.
