A Cupid Boy Club Release?

"Cupid Boy" is the best track on "Aphrodite". Hands down. As much as I love the epic gloom of "Closer" and the pure pop perfection of "Get Outta My Way", the Luciana penned/Swedish House Mafia produced belter is the album's only real club anthem. More importantly, it is a floorfiller with enormous crossover potential - exactly the kind of record Kylie needs to shake the Mother's Day artist tag she has been lumped with courtesy of dubious single choices like "Better Than Today". I know she is busy with the tour but a simple club release and live video (perhaps something along the lines of "Cowboy Style") would freshen up the diva's increasingly dowdy image no end and win favour with fans. And initially that was the plan. Parlophone commissioned a couple of "Cupid Boy" remixes and were set to push it to clubs this week but those plans appear to have changed. It's such a waste. Particularly when you hear the remixes. I only have permission to post the Stereogamous dub (below) but it gives you some idea of how epic the vocal version is. The boys completely deconstruct the song but I love the new dark and dirty direction. Fingers crossed Parlophone reconsider their decision and give this a push. If not, there's nothing stopping Warner Australia from giving the track a shove at home. Mushroom used to regularly take a punt on Australian only singles and it's about time Warner prove that they're even aware that Kylie's still on their register. In the digital age, which takes cost out of the equation, what exactly is stopping these labels from giving fans what they want?

EDIT: There's even a release "Cupid Boy" as a single fan page on Facebook. Like it or else!

That last sentence sums it all up. There is no excuse other than laziness, especially since you've already commissioned the mixes. Even if it takes a little longer, those bad boys better be released in the US, where she has owned the top of the dance chart with her last few releases.

I normally agree with you, but I hate Cupid Boy, a lot. If it had been released Kylie would have managed to release the album's three worst songs as singles (All The Lovers and Better Than Today being the others). What about Put Your Hands Up? Or Aphrodite? Her clueless record company have pissed one of her best ever albums up a wall. Sad.

I think Warner still need permission from Parlophone to release anything. Kylie really needs to get out of both her record contracts and do stuff herself. What's she has done with the tour and the songs chosen for the album prove that she has a better understanding of what her fans want than her clueless record companies do...

It's a really good remix to have on while you're feigning conversation with your dealer. Club appropriate, but nothing too intrusive. PS - on a sober and drug-free topic, can't wait to party wit chu. I'mma dial you when I'm up in Sydney, Mike! :D

Fabulous mix! Something like this would have worked much better than the abysmal career killing FLOP Outta Tha Charts and its plethora of unbelievably DIRE remixes...

And Put Your Hands up (If You Feel Sick) has massive stinking FLOP written all over it...

They need to release something to coincide with the tour! Hopefully they are just having problems on deciding what to release. It definitely should be Cupid Boy or Aphrodite. If it's more likely we will get Cupid Boy then I'm all for it!

Both Kylie and Parlophone fucked things up by releasing Better Than Today. I love the track but it was such a safe choice as a single. Mix things up a bit and release something with a bit of edge even if it would only be a digital/club release! It would require little effort for christ sakes. Hopefully she decides on jumping ship to a new label soon.

What happened to the rumored "Aphrodite" album re-release with new tracks?

This remix actually works but it sounds like something you'd hear while shopping H&M.

Really, Tony? I love the remix!!

And Daniel I promise to post "Beat Of My Own Drum" ASAP. I just have to double check I still have permission so I don't get shut down for infringing someone's copyright.

'Put Your Hands Up' should be a single hands down. And I love 'Too Much' also. The album is actually pretty good. Shame the singles are flops.
