Luciana's Australian Smash

There must be something (fabulous) in the water. Last week Sia registered her first Australian hit with "You've Changed" and now UK dance diva Luciana debuts at #35 with her club smash "I Like That". The song has a long history on Pop Trash Addicts. It featured on Pop Panel 7 way back in June last year and shamefully came in last place! A month later I interviewed Luciana about the track and her future plans. At the time I would never have guessed that "I Like That" would become the soundtrack to summer 2010. The song is unavoidable in clubs and finally seems to be taking off on radio. As a fan from WAY back, it's hugely satisfying to see Luciana doing so well in Australia. I actually got to hang out with the dance icon during her recent whirlwind trip to Sydney and I know she has huge plans for 2010 - so I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, download "I Like That" from iTunes (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a physical single to add to my collection) and watch the brilliant video clip (below). Congrats again to Luci, Nick, Stephen & David!

I'm unsure how I feel about the track really - I kind of like it, but it feels like something I'd be listening to in 2002.

Still, good for her for finding success without major label funding. There's something very admirable about that.

I'm kind of inclined to be glad about ANY success Luciana has, even if I don't think this song is going to be rivaling her best work in my affections soon (a good portion of the time I like her more than I like her music, but she's got some great songs under her belt, for sure).

On another note, how did I miss your interview with her? I'm going to hope it's because it was during my "away" time--otherwise I'm ashamed!

It's songs like these that make me binge drink.

All her songs sound exactly the same to me.

exactly - she's so desperate for a hit

Aren't 90% of all pop artists desperate for a hit though?

If she were that desperate for a hit she'd be selling her soul to work with RedOne not keeping it real with underground dance music! Rude.

This songs rocks... dig the remixes by Meterhead, Angger Dimas & David Garcia too... haven't heard the Ant Brooks mix yet.
