Hammer Time With Linda Sundblad

Linda Sundblad's stunning new anthem has been all over the web for the past couple of weeks with good reason. "To All My Girls" is the kind of edgy yet relentlessly catchy Swedish pop music that Robyn used to make before she turned into a "serious artiste" and started churning out shit like this. I've had a soft spot for Linda since the glory days of Lambretta (does anyone else remember the band's floptastic attempt to crack Australia in 2002 with "Bimbo"?) but I was underwhelmed by her debut solo album. It was a little too cool for its own good - something she has definitely rectified with her latest release. As much as I love "To All My Girls", I think I'm even more obsessed with the film clip than the song. Despite the diva's eerie and unsettling resemblance to Portia De Rossi, this is a cinematic masterpiece. The 90s choreography puts MC Hammer to shame, Linda manages to dance without wearing a top (or bra for that matter) and somehow rocks a pair of American flag boxing shorts and leopard skin print poo catchers. Respect! With Agnes and Medina currently flying the Scandipop flag in Australia, surely it's only a matter of time before someone snaps up this hot bitch?

To my probably eternal shame, I find myself fighting an urge to recreate her dance moves in the video every time I listen to this (great) song.

Anyway, the video should get famous so instead of all the Gaga Halloween costumes we're going to get this year we have some of Linda's outfits running around in 2010.

You've got no idea how happy I am that you like the song...and you're right, you definitely can't accuse her of talking herself too seriously with this new video.

Obviously I love this, though I must say she first caught my eye with her Oh Father video and song. I love that song, and when I first saw the video I thought she was Dannii! I swear she looks just like her! But I have yet to get into Lambretta. Linda is one I need to become more world famous!!

Oh God. Bimbo was the teenage tune of my life! Then again, I am Swedish...

And that Robyn track is hardly representative of her output is it? Are you trying to piss Robpop off?

(on a related note, I also had an article titled "Robyn leaves Sweden!" stuck in my locker in the seventh/eight grade since I hated her back then - ah, the nineties...)

I think "Oh Father" deserved worldwide recognition.

Did you notice that Linda in the video made a tribute to the "La Toya" 88 outfit?!!

Anyway I'm not sure I'm seduce by this song, even if it's funny how it looks like to the first Taylor Dayne video "tell it to my heart"!

The video is actually quite toytastic now that I think of it. Well spotted!!!

I love the glass-smashing chorus. It's amazing, and she has a richer voice than Robyn, even if there's not much in it.

I love Lambretta's Creep and Bimbo, but know nothing else as was on a Max Martin purge at the time.

Lose You plays at my work sometimes - the 'I'm in heaven' bits are gorgeous. To me, that song plays like a cross between Call The Shots and The One. Some songs - Back In Time - entered my ears like diarrhea, such were the awfulness of the lyrics.

This is another great Max Martin track, good to see her back with him.
